Hello............Thanks for taking a few minutes of your time to visit Crestagard...Let's begin our visit by getting acquainted.
Through my eyes, my frenchies aren't dogs, ....they are like furry children, loved and cherished. My french bulldogs carry some of the top pedigrees in the world........ Each frenchie I own, that is involved in producing offspring is health tested, the results discussed with one of the top brachycephalic breed specialists in America, Dr. John Wilson,of Washington Michigan, before I proceed.
When I produce a litter, I enjoy watching the puppies grow, evaluating each baby against our breed standard. The breed standard is like a "road map", it provides dedicated breeders a mental picture of what a correct show frenchie should look like. At eight weeks, after enjoying my babies, I seriously evaluate the litter, often with another dedicated breeder, at that time selecting what puppy(s) may continue on at Crestagard. I continue watching the selected puppy(s) A final selection will be made at 4-5 months of age. Whatever puppy(s) remain will eventually enter the show ring. As I mentioned, I am a very small hobby breeder, and only retain one, maybe two puppies a year. If I find I have a puppy that did not continue matching the standard as I would like, I place that puppy in a companion home. I rarely place puppies that leave my home in breeding establishments.
My frenchies live in my home, as loved family members. I keep my frenchie family limited, so litters are not frequent, but I do plan 2 or 3 special litters a year. Occasionally, I have beautiful puppies available to approved companion homes.
Please give me a call, or email me, Id love to talk about my "kids", and even if I have nothing available, I would be happy to help mentor you. Visit the French Bulldog Club of America and follow the links to read about our breed and the issues that should concern you. As with all endeavors, education is the key....talk to as many breeders as you can before adopting a frenchie.........ask questions, discuss health concerns of this breed......AS WITH ALL LIVING CREATURES,HEALTH ISSUES CAN HAPPEN, ESPECIALLY WITH THE BRACHYCEPHLIC BREEDS....we responsible breeders try our best to produce healthy, thriving puppies but Mother Nature and the genepoole can have other ideas. Before adopting make sure you are totally prepared for a baby, both mentally and physically with things puppies need for a good life ....and finally, most of all....remember a puppy is a lifetime of love and commitment.
Sincerely, Bev McDonald..........Crestagardfrenchies
