Hello............Thanks for taking a few minutes of your time to visit Crestagard...Let's begin our visit by getting acquainted.
Through my eyes, my frenchies aren't dogs, ...they are my children, loved and cherished. My french bulldogs carry some of the top pedigrees in the world........ Each frenchie I own, that is showring bound and involved in producing offspring is health tested. I discuss the results with one of the top brachycephalic breed specialists in America, Dr. John Wilson,of Washington Michigan, before I decide if the puppy I keep will continue into the ring and whelping box. It is critical to me, for the sake of puppies I breed, to know I've done my best to assure the health and well being of anything I produce. I do not want to place a puppy into a family with less than my best going into it.
When I produce a litter, I enjoy watching the puppies grow, evaluating each baby against our breed standard. The breed standard is like a "road map", it provides dedicated breeders a mental picture of what a correct frenchie should look like. At eight weeks, after enjoying my babies, I seriously evaluate the litter, often with another dedicated breeder. I continue watching the selected puppy(s) At 12-14 weeks I begin placing companion puppies, or those I feel would not contribute what i want in my breeding program. A final selection will be made at 4-5 months of age.. Whatever puppy(s) remain may eventually enter the show ring. As I mentioned, I am a very small hobby breeder, and only retain one, maybe two puppies a year. If I find I have a puppy that did not continue matching the standard as I would like, I place that puppy in a companion home. I rarely place puppies that leave my home in breeding establishments.
My frenchies live in my home, as loved family members. I keep my frenchie family limited, so litters are not frequent, but I do plan 2 or 3 special litters a year. Occasionally, I have beautiful puppies available to approved companion homes.
Please give me a call, or email me, Id love to talk about my "kids", and even if I have nothing available, I would be happy to help mentor you. Visit the French Bulldog Club of America and follow the links to read about our breed and the issues that should concern you. As with all endeavors, education is the key....talk to as many breeders as you can before adopting a frenchie.........ask questions, discuss health concerns of this breed......AS WITH ALL LIVING CREATURES,HEALTH ISSUES CAN HAPPEN, ESPECIALLY WITH THE BRACHYCEPHLIC BREEDS...They are among a handful of MANMADE DOGS. Frenchies are ARE A DWARF BREED. Dwarf breeds come with health issues that other breeds do not have, so please research, and know what you are doing before adopting a french bulldog. We responsible breeders try our best to produce healthy, thriving puppies but Mother Nature and the genepoole can have other ideas. Before adopting make sure you are totally prepared for a baby, both mentally and physically with things puppies need for a good life
............................and finally, most of all....remember a puppy is a lifetime of love and commitment.

A little about me.......it was in 1993 that I lost my last pug, Toots and I was devastated. My constant shadow was gone, my home was very lonely, and I yearned for a furry little somebody to kiss and love. While reading a dog magazine, I came across a picture of a frenchie with his owner. At that moment I was smitten. I began a frantic search for a frenchie, and within 3 weeks I was the estatic owner of my first french bulldog, Louie........ Please, though I was very fortunate that Louie had no health issues.....research research and more research BEFORE you adopt a french bulldog......do not rush into purchasing any dog, make sure you really are ready for a puppy, check health issues, become EDUCATED, before you buy! .......So on with my story....... For the first year and a half, Louie reigned supreme, learning tricks and entertaining everyone that stopped by. Well, one just wasn't enough, and eventually I added more frenchies to my family. My second frenchie was Prissy.....a pied girl that I adored...she was my baby in furry clothing......Since then I have had many wonderful frenchies, all like kids, all different and unique. The queen of my heart is Tutti, Queen Supreme....(aka Tori...Ch. Shann's Toy Story) she goes everywhere with me.....sleeps with me, she is the head Bitch! Tuttie has been my rock, thru tough times and more, she has been here to love and be loved. Her daughter, Sissy, is right next to her, and of course my other kids...all contribute bright and loving moments throughtout my days. Many of you understand what loving a dog is like, uncomplaining, selfless, never criticizing...........
Over the years I began showing my frenchies, Prissy, my little pied girl was the first of them. Although I am not a professional, my frenchies and I have done very well in the show ring. I have shown many frenchies to their championships, one in particular, Ch. Shann's Goodtime At Crestagard, became a TopTen competitor, no small feat for a hobby breeder.
I worked for a gastroenterologist 3 days a week, but am now retired. Before that I worked 10 years in the veterinary field, so I have alot of animal exposure, I've worked with exotics, birds, reptiles, and of course dogs, cats, and small mammals. I also was lucky enough to own horses most of my life, doing some showing, but my love was trail riding. However, frenchies have consumed so much of my off time, that I placed my last aged mare and devote much of myself to my dogs and gardens. I participated in the Master Gardner program, and did some private gardening for others...
Well now you know quite a bit about me, I hope that it will add to the experience of my website. I have made many good friends through my frenchies, and I thank God for that magazine picture so many years ago.........
